Why do girls allow themselves to be treated poorly and portrayed as objects (i.e. in most rap videos)? All the gains by the women's movement of the sixties and seventies are being lost because girls don't realize what they are taking for granted. Women used to be owned by their husbands and didn't have the right to vote. Come on, women, remember!
And what's with the high heels? Sarah Jessica Parker, you are to blame for this.

Back in the day, society was run by white men and ardent followers of the bible. The bible was written by men and therefore completely ignores the female perspective. If you look into the bible you will see that it says that a woman's purpose is to have and then care for babies after getting married. Nowadays this tradition has waned a little, but like all traditions it is still being carried on by some people. I'd guess older female figures in the family and outspoken misogynists. Yes it is true that women can be model human beings, but first they must learn to forget the prejudices of society.
Also the media today knows that sex sells, so they will often portray women as sexual objects.

There's a lot been said on the subject over the centuries, suffice it to say it is based on sheer nonsense. Too, it depends on whom you are speaking with. Personally, women have been a positive agent in my life as well as men. So where's the argument? There is none. The quality of the human being is what will always matter. The type of soul that has weathered life and come out the other end something warm, decent, and true. The world isn't full of these kinds of people, therefore we must expect gross excesses on the part of humanity as a whole.

Ask yourself what a decade or two of nonstop pregnancy, in the utter absense of even the most basic medical care, would do to he average woman's mental health.
The answer to your question is that up until about 150 or so years ago, the average woman of child bearing years was hormonally insane most of the time. Little wonder that womens rights is overwhelmingly a late nineteenth and twentieth century cause.

EVERYONE'S sexist to some degree. Just deal with it. In 21st century western society, you're not in much of a position to complain.
How do you think I feel with the stereotype that men are nothing but lecherous, sex-crazed maniacs?

Because the Christian church worked really hard to destroy the power of women. They did it in Genesis by making Eve the weak one that followed the devil leading to the damnation of humanity. See, it's all her fault, she can't be trusted, men are better than women.
