As a child, we always argued about this question with the opposite sex. But truthfully, who can take more pain? I think WOMEN!!!!

I think it varies more by person than by gender -- I worked in Childcare for 8 years and have meet some very tough little boys and girls and have meet some that cry whenever they get the tiniest scratch. Things don't change that much as you grow up... some adults are big babies (men and women) and some are tough.

Good argument. I think a male hitting a female is looked down upon because women are looked at as smaller and weaker. I can definitely agree with what you're saying and I think it is all about strength. Why can't a man and a woman fight each other if they are of equal strength? It's done in wrestling. But of course the guy isn't going to consider the woman's strength and whether or not he should hit her.. he's pissed, it's just going to happen. As for an adult hitting a kid.. that all depends too, like you said. It would be looked at as bad if a stronger kid beat up an adult because then the adult looks helpless, weak, old, and the kid will probably be looked at as a punk. But if a strong man hit a weak kid, they he would be the bad guy, because then the child is looked at as weak and helpless. So I guess I just answered myself finally after all this rambling. I think it really all depends on strength. Really, sex , age.. none of that really matter if the other person is stronger. I think the one who beats the other is going to be looked at as the bad guy, whether or not it was a male, female, child or adult. But I guess in another perspective.. when is it ever frowned upon when a woman beats up a man? Almost never. I think society should look at acts of violence based on strength. I don't think it's right for anyone to hit another person knowing that they can easily win because that person is weak. Other than that, if they are both equally strong, then why does it matter if they have a penis or vagina, or if they are 15 or 50?

Ah - this depends on the person! Each person is unique in their amount of pain they can take before they crack.

It also depends on the type of pain: I will concentrate on three:Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical.

Often one source can produce many types of pain.

Men in the USA live shorter lives due to how they process stress, however this is all to do with lifestyle choice.

Women are capible of giving birth, and are willing to do it more than once. I would have to say this is a huge boon in your direction.

However, men have traditionally held jobs of extreme physical demand such as coal miners and combat servicemen.

I personally believe it is based on nature and nurture, woman arn't nessicarly better at dealing with pain but an individual might be better than others in that regard.

Maybe women in a general sense, but eveybody goes through different experiences, so it depends on the individual man or woman. I personally have a really high thresh hold of pain and pain tolerance, because of my dealing with vascultis, which is extremely painful. So, any other pain that I feel or have felt that might bother other men and women, hardly bothers me, because I have dealt with much stronger pain for most of my life. So if you have a man who deals with stuff like this, and a woman who doesn't, then I would say the man has a higher thresh hold of pain. But if not, then the woman might have a higher thesh hold of pain.

It actually depends on the "pain". Apparently, men that are sick tend to complain a lot, while physical pain seems to affect women more.

Girls almost certainly complain more than boys just to get attention, though. (Note that girls and boys are not men and women.)

But that's just my educated opinion.

EDIT: Has a man ever been pregnant? No? Is the uterus full of nerve cells? NO? Well then, I'm not sure one can exactly compare the pain of pregnancy between the sexes, or even USE childbirth as proof.

Here are some sources concerning the female and male perceptions of pain:

http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/news/20051028/women-may-feel-pain-more-intensely-than-men

http://www.anesthesia-analgesia.org/cgi/content/full/97/5/1464

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4641567.stm

Judging from that information, I believe at the very least that men don't ADMIT they feel pain as much as women do, and often take it upon themselves to "be a man" and remain tough in a painful situation, ESPECIALLY if other people are watching.

Women can take more pain. When men get sick, they turn into big babies. If it were up to men to carry on the cycle of life, it would have stopped when the first man got pregnant. Thank you and may GOD bless.

I believe women can. Women seem to be able to handle all kinds of pain and abuse most their lives. Most of this pain is given to them by men. Go figure.
Women handle monthly menstrual cramps
Child birthing pains
Mental and physical abuse inflicted by peers at school, more so then boys.
We take it all and do not whine and cry about it as much a boys or men do.
Let a man get sick and he is usually a big baby about it.
I know this from experience. My dad, step-dad, brothers and boy friends all have acted like big babies when sick, in pain or suffering some mental set back. They mope, and are depressed more. Then they try to handle it in the wrong ways by drinking or taking it out on someone they love.
So my answer comes from much experience.
Sorry guys.

Well this is a fun question. You know all the sayings "if men gave birth we wouldn't be here" and the whole "man cold" thing and for the men in my life these cliches are too true as they are big babies about pain.
With that said I have tattoos from 3 different artists and each of them have told me that men are WAY bigger babies about the ripping razor blade like pain cutting into the skin they come in all flexing but need to take more breaks.
In college I was an art model which is actually quite painful to the body and again my male "co-workers" found this more taxing and complained more because of this experience I have the ability to get into the "zone" and not even whince through a 3 hour tattoo session.
None of this is fact just my observation, but I guess in all seriousness it probably depends on the pain.
