I have a tropical fish that is acting really funny. When I turn on the lights or feed it, it does flips and circles in the water. Other than that, it seems to be normal. At one point it was floating on the top. I thought it was dead but when I went in with my net, it started "flipping out" and began to swim normal again. I just cleaned the tank and the temp/ph etc all seem fine. All of the other fish including 2 just like it are fine as well. It doesn't have spots or anything. Any idea whats wrong with my fish????

I had a big white silver dollar mollie that done the same thing. We called it Spazz. Especially when I turned the light on and fed them, it acted crazy. It would swim to the top really fast and then nose dive and spin to the bottom of my 55 galon tank. It would jerk sideways, swim upside down, spin to the bottom.. all kinds of wierd stuff. I had it for about 2 years then I ended up with a sick fish that ended up getting half my fish before I got it under control. I would say if everything is fine with the water temp, ph levels and other fish, then its probably just that one fish, and as long as it looks healthy hopefully it will be fine.

I have seen fish react this way to anything disturbing the tank. I never have known a cause except to say it seems to freak out very easily. I really wouldn't worry too much about it as there doesn't seem to be any thing you can do to correct it.

Nothing. Some are neurotic. I presently am holding about 200 German Ram's in "grow out" tanks for a local store. Some are more grown out than others. Most are very laid back, some are not.

Your fish has swim bladder disease. ( A swim bladder helps the fish swim.) If it's a female, it might be pregnant but if it isn't, then buy some medicine or just wait.
