..instead of Representative_____ like we used to, when both members of the House and members of the Senate are Congressmen?

But WHY is it more politically correct?
We never used to call them Congressman? It's kind of recent.
Why don't we address both Senators and House members as Congressman______?

You can use either, but Congressman is considered more flattering because it also applies to Senators. If you want something, you get more with honey than vinegar....

I hear Representatives called "Representative" all of the time. Both terms, Representative and Congressman, are correct.
