Soda or pop, either one is considered a soft drink around here.
Sack or bag either one. Most use bag, but it would really depend on the context of its use, what it actually means.

Dharma, here in Calgary, Alberta, Soda Pop is called Pop or Soft Drink. Soda is what you ask for when you want club soda in a drink. The grocery thingy here is called a bag (they even ask if you want plastic or paper bags), a sack here is usually burlap and is what 100 lbs of potatoes comes in.
Once, when in Oregon we had bought some groceries, and they asked if I wanted a sack, I said no thanks, but still waited for a bag (I had never heard anyone call it a sack before then).
What do they call lunch bags where you are?

Just wondering where you're from. Here in Minnesota, I call soda, pop. However, sometimes I still call soda, soda. I still call it a grocery bag, not a sack though. It's wierd, I've only lived in Minnesota for 7 years (not quite a native yet) and the different words I pick up. LOL! My parents live in Florida, and laugh at some of the words I use.

what about when they put your soda in a sandwich baggie?
It was called soda pop in the old days, because you had to pop the top. now it's just soda to some and pop to others.
the grocery plastic is a sack, the bag is the lady carying it home.

In Michigan, most people call it pop, but soda means the same. I've heard it is different depending which state you're in. Oh, by the way, here it is a grocery bag.

...and I have an answer about soda. I've always called any kind of soft drink, soda. Not pop. Not Cola. Not coke. I get my groceries in a bag too.

Here in California it's called soda, I didn't even hear the term "pop" until I was in high school. So I call it soda too.

Soda to me is something like coke or pepsi. Pop is my father, bad music or the sound a bag makes.
