A little homesickness isn't a bad thing. But before you go, write out a list of all the benefits of this trip. Include fun things planed or expected, friends you get to spend time with, skills you Will gain, and any other way it will help you grow. I will start the list with 1. expanding your Independence 2. one tiny step closer to going off to college. End the list with get over my fear of homesickness. Take your list with you and keep it with a personal item to remind you of home. Go over the list if you feel the need, and when you get to the end of it, repeat I will be home in only (whatever time is left of the trip) Then go make sure you maximize your fun before the time is up!

It's nice to hear this -
(as a mom).

You are going to have a wonderful time. Call home but only to say you are fine and do everything you can. It's 5 days it could be a month! Just think sometimes how fast a break goes.
This will be that only faster. Time flies.

Well I dont know. Ive had the wanderlust all my life so I cant relate. When I am gone, I do miss home but its mostly my stereo, TV, books and yard. Maybe you take a few things with you. But when you travel, look outward...you are there to learn and take in new perspectives.
