I didn't buy a set. You're not supposed to put the bumpers or quilt in with the baby (SIDS risk), so I figured it was a waste of money. I just bought about 3 fitted sheets and the matching crib skirt. I spent about half what I would have if I bought them in the set. The nursery looks perfect and I don't have a bunch of expensive bedding laying around that I'll never use!

The set is a waste. You are not supposed to use the bumper pad because of SIDS, and besides, it impairs your view of the baby from across the room. The crib comforter can't go in the crib, it's decorative only. And you'll need way more than one sheet, so it's better to buy inexpensive plain ones than the ones that match the crib set, anyway. The only other thing you need is the crib skirt and that's purely decorative. Whoever made your quilt can probably make a matching skirt, or you can just get a pretty white one. Or depending on your crib, you may not need one at all.
Save the money and invest in more of the blanket sacks. Good luck!

Just buy the fitted sheets. If you aren't going to use the bumper pad the set is such a waste. My set came with the bumper pad, a fitted sheet and a quilt. The quilt is draped over her rocker because i don't want it in her bed and the bumper pad hasn't been used. Yeah the sleeping bags are awesome i love them. Good luck

Sounds like grobags are the same thing as halo sleep sacks - and we LOVED them (after swaddling of course). We didnt buy a set either. We have a quilt hanging on a quilt rac - although now think its kind of a waste. Plus I really liked the flannelly sheets better, they were so much softer.

Bumpers aren't bad. I used an old set that my mom had. When my daughter was about 14 months old we moved and I left the set with my mom so she could give it to the next grandkid. After that I didnt use bumper pads. I just stuffed some of her old receiving blankets between the mattress and the crib bars so she wouldnt roll over and bang her head on the bars at night. Bumper pads arent really that necessary but are good to have. (They dont cause SIDS).

don't need them, I got one as a gift and only used the sheet. I only used to quilt over a grobag when it got a little chilly.
I still had to buy more fitted sheets because of diaper leakage. It took a few brands before we found one that fit her bum =)
Also. get disposible puppy pads (it's a plastic sheet with cotton side to train puppies to go pee) to put underneath the sheet to protect your mattress. We also use it on the changing table

I used bumper pads without any problems. My sister uses a sleeping wedge. It keeps the baby at the right angle to help prevent SIDS. I also kept my two in bassinet until they were to big for them. That way I could just move the bassinet to whatever room I was in at the time.

I did not buy a set. I picked out some fabric out the store and my mom made the bed skirts and then I just got fitted sheets that matched.

no real need for a bedding set. Maybe add a protective padding to your list...babies spit up or pee a lot so you gotta be prepared for that!! A skirt for the crib might be a nice item to buy to...and you can buy those alone out of a set.

I would add just one more thing to your list- a mattress pad. Those little ones can sometimes leak at night and you don't want it getting on the mattress! I would get several fitted sheets (maybe 3 or 4). They are very reasonably priced at Walmart and Target and come in various colors and prints.
