I just finished helping my boss to recover a file from her computer. She had opened an Excel attachement to an email instead of saving it and then opening the saved version and she made a lot of edits to it and saved it but it saved to some strange temp file and she couldn't find it.
So I spend about 15 minutes doing all sorts of tricks to try to find it (no, Search did not find it) and I realized something.
Did you ever realize how you learn to do something incredibly complex actions with your computer to accomplish what should be a very simple task because there is no simple way to do it? I realized that we are like killer whales at Seaquarium and the computer is training us to do all sorts of jumps and twists and backflips in order to get a fish to eat and we do these tricks without even realizing how stupid it all looks.
Instead of making us do all these stupid things, why can they just give us the fish once in a while?

Did you try opening exel, then go to 'recent'. I can't imagine why that wouldn't work. It sounds like she either saved a strange name or maybe didn't really save it.

The real power of the computer is to be able to script all of those "jumps and twists and backflips" so next time you can just run the script and get an easy fish.
Or in some cases, program those scripts and sell it to others in return for more fish than you could ever eat.

Or you could think of yourself as the trainer and the computer as a very powerful but stupid whale. You have to learn how to make it do what you want, but once you know how it can do amazing things. :)

Some times you got to ask your self ,is this a fish or is that a fish .Do i feel like fish or do i even like fish .It's like like that tuna in a can,Is it fish or is it chicken .Does fish come in a can.Or can I fish .No its not fish its Spam .
