On my last vacation I tried out my new waterproof digital camera to take some great pictures of all the marine life. I even saw a bottle nosed dolphin. I tried to get him to make those Flipper squeaking noises or maybe do some tricks but he just kept bumping me with his nose. What is wrong with this stupid animal?

Here's a photo of the dumb dolphin: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/gallery/descript/TigerShark/scars.JPG

They won't perform tricks without some kind of incentive... basic Pavlovian... err... wait, that's not Pavlovian is it? Whatever. Next time bring some fish heads and chum the water with them. They like that.

Well, first off, that's not a dolphin, it's a shark.

Second, I worked on a nature tour boat for two years, and we had a hydrophone, and saw dolphins nearly every day we went out, and in my experience, wild dolphins don't make Flipper noises, there's squeals and chirps and buzzing and clicking, but I've never heard the noise Flipper would make. T.V. lied to me.

Your dolphin wasn't trained, and didn't understand you, but obviously he liked you. Get some fishy treats and a clicker to train him with; maybe he'll give you a ride. He's very handsome.
