It looks like another set back for the GITMO terrorists and their jihadist brothers the Democrats and Left wing liberal nut cases.

A reminder to the factually challenged terrorist apologist...they are not US citizens and are not protected under our constitution. For all intents they are non uniformed combatants with no nation state affiliation...

It will upset the "hate-America" wing of the liberal party, but I think most Americans do not want the rights of US citizens to be given to terrorists.

Citing from your article:
The VICTORY MAY BE TEMORARY TODAY, however. The high court twice previously has extended legal protections to prisoners at the U.S. naval base in Cuba. These individuals were seized as potential terrorists following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and only 10 have been charged with a crime.
Despite the earlier rulings, none of the roughly 385 detainees has yet had a hearing in a civilian court challenging his detention because the administration has moved aggressively to limit the legal rights of prisoners it has labeled as enemy combatants.

This should make any real American sick to their stomach. Not everyone at Gitmo is guilty of being a terrorist. If you want proof just look at the 100 plus detainees who have been RELEASED. All right seems give a **** about is trying to make some sort of cheap political point without making an effort to understand the broader implications. If that sort of mindset is pervasive in this country then we don't need terrorists to try and take over. We're already fuc ked!
RESPONSE - I don't care if they're citizens or not. I'm talking about our core values as a nation. One of those values is we don't throw someone in a hole indefinitely without giving them an opportunity to try and prove their innocence. The same military that said that 100 detainees were a threat later did a 180 and released them. I'm not saying that the rest are innocent. I am saying that if there are any who are innocent then they have to be given a chance to demonstrate that.

As I understand the case, the Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal of the detainees. Two of the Justices decided on procedural grounds. Apparently that may mean that these same cases could be heard after the lower courts start their reviews. Your celebrating may be a bit premature.

victory? how many of those people are terrorists?? how many aren't?? I don't know.. do you? so what would be wrong with letting a court decide that? I don't call trashing human rights due to skirting the law a victory...
P.S. we already knew that Bush could legally do this.. that there was a loophole in the spirit of the law.. and all this ruling does is remind us that yep.. there's a loophole.

Yes. The liberals will want some cheese with their whine today because of this set back. Even though the trial is over and decided, they will find some reason to still complain about it.

They are not upset with this or any ruling. Only the fact that they are on the loosing (terrorist anti American) side.

Wouldn't victory be charging them with a crime, finding the guilty ones guilty, and giving them their punishment? Isn't that what the US judicial system is set up to do? And wouldn't that be the US version of justice? That is what I consider victory.

So you advocate holding people in prison without due process indefinitely even if they are innocent? How very fascist of you.
But don't count your victories too soon. The liberals and environmentalists had a win in the supreme court too.
