The front looks pretty normal, but the date says- 1776-1976
and the back is a soldier? i think playing a drum and it says E Pluribus Unum- and it doesnt have a state. Is it just the quarter of the USA or is it special or anything?

Yes it is a Bicentennial quarter struck by the Philadelphia (mintage 809,784,060) and Denver (mintage 860,118,839) mints for circulation and from the San Francisco mint for proof sets. As you can see it had a very large mintage and most were saved. Once in a while a person will see that it has little value above a quarter and spends one. A contest was held and Jack L. Ahr won it, with his drummer boy for the quarter. I have to admit it is one of the better coins this country has put out. One gets tired of eagles and dead presidents after a while. A least the world for one year, saw we do have some artistic talent in this country. To bad everything has to be political. Hold on to it for it is a nice looking coin and it is a piece of history.
