your best bet would be to find a 72 4x4. you could also try the frame swap with a similair year or even an 80's model. but actually trying to find a transfer case, and front axle and all the other goodies would probabally end up costing you more in the long run.

I have the perfect solution for you. I have a 1980 4x4 short box rollin chasis in my back yard. It also has a 2" lift, shocks, 350 automatic tranny, and 205 transfer case,. Is this 72 chevy of yours a long bed, short bed, blazer, step side?

Buy a 1972 Chevy 4X4.

There is so much involved, it's not feasible.

find a rolled 4x4 it can be newer just put your body on it ..keep it registered as a 72 for smog reasons

Get transfer case and front axle from a junk yard.
But a REALLY usefull advice is: get rid of it, and get a 4Runner or a Tacoma. The already are 4x4, and they also are Toyota.

the best way to do this is change the frame. or you can just buy a four wheel drive like a normal person.
