2003 Honda Civic air filter?

Question

I have 55k miles on my 2003 Honda Civic LX. It has it's original air filter. Should I replace it soon? And if I did, Would it be worth it to buy a K&N?

I have two 2003 civics and based on my experience, the filter is way overdue for a change. K&N filters are very good but they won't give you any noticable improvement if power on the civic and are only good if y ou're going to keep the car for a long time and are willing to clean the filter every 10k or so with the cleaning kit that comes with the filter. I think the factory filter is a much better deal and I change my filter every 18 months or 20k. I think the factory says check it at every service and replace it at 30k intervals. I think you'll be able to buy several of the factory filters for the price of the K&N and you won't have to do any work cleaning them.

I have k&n filters in all my honda's. I think it would be worth it to make the change. At 55K miles, your filter is prob. really really clogged. Just changing it to a new paper filter will give you back performance, mileage etc. Look into changing that filter every 15K miles, or cleaning and re-oiling a k&n every 10K miles.

1. You definitely need to replace the air filter at this mileage
2. Buying a $150+ aftermarket filter will provide no noticeable benefits in terms of performance and/or economy. Don't waste your money.

I've bought K&N filters for most of my cars and its real hassle to clean and oil all the time. Much easier to just replace the old paper filter with a new paper filter. At 55K miles it needs to be replaced now, and don't wait another 55K replace it. Change it at an oil change intralval, every other or every third oil change.

K&N air filter would be a waste of your money as it will make no difference in th horse power department. Tests have proven that cold air induction makes no difference and that the stock setup is fine

I dislike the civic intake doesent matter it still can't beat a vette

by now yes its probably due...replace it but i woulnt bother with a k&n they really dont give much if any more power and are way to expensive
