Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world above sea level, but the title of world's largest mountain goes to Hawaii's Mauna Loa volcano as much of it is actually under water...BTW Kilimanjaro is the tallest free-standing mountain rise.

it would be Mona Kea in Hawaii if you measured from the ocean floor at 33,465 feet . otherwise it would be Mount Everest at 29,029 feet.


But did you know that the tallest mountain in the solsr system is olmpus mons on mars at about 88,585 feet or about 17 miles. :D

everest is the highwest mountain over sea level. k-2 is the highest mountain in the world. much of it is below sea level.
