We have not had representation in years, maybe as many as 30 years. Career politicians in Congress do not represent the people, they represent lining their own pockets and those of the BIG MONEY that bought them in their first election.
If you want representation you will have a far better chance by installing term limits otherwise you will just have a more diverse group of career thieves in congress.

Are you saying that women and people of color are not represented? Your question would lead me to conclude that gentiles in Michigan and Connecticut are not adequately represented because Carl Levin and Joe Lieberman are Jewish. For that matter New Yorkers are inadequately represented by George Pataki unless they are Greek. Does this mean that males in California are S.O.L. because Boxer and Feinstein are women? In Georgia, our Attorney General, Thurbert Baker, is black. I am a white male, should I complain? Our Secretary of State is Karen Handel, before her it was Cathy Cox; are the men in Georgia not represented. Our Atlanta Mayor is Shirley Franklin, a black female. Does my whiteness and maleness put me at "the back of the bus?"
Germany has a female Chancellor, Angela Merkel. Are the men of Germany being taxed without representation?
I really don't understand your point. I think Thurbert Baker has been an excellent Attorney General and Cathy Cox was an excellent Secretary of State; I feel they have represented me well.

If someone wants to run for the House or Senate one has to be able to bring in the money for their campaign. It isn't necessarily about sex or race. Is there taxation without representation? Of course there is. Do you know how to get rid of it? No? I thought so! When you vote begin to do research before you make your ballot, and don't do it on race or sex alone. Be smarter than that!

maybe the people didn't think they were the best person for the job....it doesn't matter what color or gender you are, if you're not good enough for the job, you PROBABLY won't get elected.....
of course, the fiasco of Bush makes me question that...
and if you are saying that because you are either black or female or both you aren't being represented, you are...taxation without representation means that the people have no voice and are taxed without any say....our elected officials speak for us.

There is no quota. Whomever wishes to run, and is elected, is there. It is what it is. If you want to see more women or minorities, then vote for those candidates.
I think most people vote for the best qualified person, not for skin or gender.

People vote for who they want. There are not racial quotas for an elected office. Only in the business world.

Since these people are voted in by the American voters. It would point to the obvious; that American voters have no faith in blacks or women to govern the country.
Sorry, I know it's not PC but it's true.
