Does AOL cost any money? If so, how much? What are the good and bad things about it? Would you recommend it? Thank you!

of course it does, but it depends on what price package you go onto, its adviseable to goto http://www.aol.com and then u can check their prices.

Good: low-cost, based on Internet Explorer, easy and quick to install, very friendly and non-technical interface. Comes with Windows (which is to say, Microsoft places a trial-version on most new computers). Used by many folks (which is to say, you won't be speaking a foreign language when you go to a party and say something about, "AOL"). Also go see aol.com for many many freebies that go with having an AOL account.
Bad: digs itself deeply into your computer software, hard to remove if you ever decide to do so; when it updates itself, it does a poor job of "cleaning up", thus leaving lots of previous-release stuff eating up space needlessly. One friend's computer had four prior releases in place!
Another bad: poor security package: another friend's computer showed 153 viruses under AOL protection.

its free its not that different than other im`s like yahoo msn,yahoo im is there is one that does all of them its called trillian the basic version is free you can get it at trillian.cc
