im 38 weeks, 100% effaced, & 3cm dialated, my ob stripped my membranes today, in your personal experience, how effective was that procedure?

It caused me to have some major contractions, in fact, after I got off the table, I didn't think I could walk to the elevator for fear the baby would fall out on to the floor. But I still didn't deliver for almost a week. The contractions stopped after a couple of hours, and I still had to be induced.

For the majority of women the result is fast and labor begins with 24-48 hours, but for a small few it may take up to a week.

Membranes stripped 4pm delivered next morning at 9am...pretty effective for me

i was the same way, but i stayed at 3cm for a week then he stripped my membrane....my doc. told me to go to the hospital as soon as possible. ..and then a lil while later i had to get a c-section done bc my sons heartrate was dropping..but he wass fine! but it didnt take very long!..Good luck and Congrats!

Well here is my experience with it....baby 1 stripped on June 17th..nothing...stripped again on June 25th he was born June 26th.

baby 2 ...didn't have it done

baby 3...Had it done on August 1st born August 2nd.

Sounds like you are almost ready anyway!! Good Luck and I bet you have a baby by wendsday!!

depends on the person in my experience it wasn't effective. at 37wks i had the membranes stripped i didn't have my daughter til almost 41wks

honestly this is the first I've ever heard of that procedure, maybe google it. the only thing I've heard of is getting enduced by petocin.
