try Hecate she is the Greek goddess of the crossroads. She is most often depicted as having three heads; one of a dog, one of a snake and one of a horse. She is usually seen with two ghost hounds that were said to serve her.
Hecate is most often mispercepted as the goddess of witchcraft or evil, but she did some very good things in her time. One such deed was when she rescued Persephone, (Demeter's daughter, the queen of the Underworld and the maiden of spring), from the Underworld. Hecate is said to haunt a three-way crossroad, each of her heads facing in a certain direction. She is said to appear when the ebony moon shines.
i also hear that her other name are seleen which i am not sure if it is right but it might explain why she faces the moon as in the roman pantheon seleen means luna or moon in english translation (sorry for the essay)

Okay Eris, the Greek Goddess of Discord and Chaos, is a wonderful goddess to write about.
Another one would be Gaia, the Mother Earth. She started everything according to the Greeks.
Freya, the norse Goddess of Love, is awesome too. She is strong and independant.

write about Sareana the Goddess of Beauty . Legend tells of her single touch that could heal the most dieing soul, and a smile that warms even the coldest man. Her eye's stare gives the weakest spirit the strength to journey on, and Her sweet embrace fills your heart with tears of happiness and a determination to carry on.
(well ok, I made it up, I had a HUGE crush on this friend I knew in highschool , and these words describe exactly how I felt around her).

I think all of the goddess' have their interesting stories and backgrounds. I don't think I would be able to pick just one to write about. Depending on how long your short "book" has to be, you might have more fun writing little "chapters" on some of the main goddesses.

The greek goddess Demeter is very interesting, she is the goddess of the earth and such, her daughter persephone was her pride and joy, Demeter is one of Zeus' sisters, and their brother Hades asked for Persephone to be his wife, Demeter said no so he went over her head and zeus told him to go ahead so he kidnapped persephone and took her down to the underworld, demeter had a fit and went to zeus to help get her daughter back, at first he said no so she refused to tend to the earth, finally, because everything was dying, when they went to bring persephone back they found out she had eaten 6 pomagranite seeds, because of this she had to spend 6 months in hades every year and the other 6 months she could stay with her mother, so demeter was happy the 6 months she was with her daughter creating spring and summer, and when persephone is in hades she refues to work creating fall and winter...good luck!!
