Damn, most of the people responding didn't even seem to follow the question.

anti-christian law: legalizing murder, theft, etc. Voting for something that is against christian morality.

Pro-christian law: forcing people to be Christian, making kids study the bible at school.

Sorry atheists, protestant Christians (of which I am not) were the first to bring individual freedom into government. The 1st Amendment was put there so that the government did not force people to choose a religion. Most of the founder's believed that this is contrary to what God wanted in giving man free will. They did not however, prevent government institutions from asserting that there is a God. If you believe that you're a damn fool.

The problem is people today are too damn stupid to realize that there was a medium. Politicians are also very stupid. They think they are "compromising freedom" for preventing people from killing babies.

Many people confuse christianity with morality and ethical behavior.

I think that one has nothing to do with the other.

We can have perfectly good laws that have absolutely nothing to do with christianity, which I think would be a good thing.

Laws based on true moral values (not the fake ones that religion seeks to impose on others. See early christian societies in America, Europe and elsewhere, not to mention the mess that muslims want to make of things today) are not only possible, but are imperative if we are to survive as a nation.

Religion (including christianity) has been at the source of more deaths and misery in this worlds history than any despot, dictator, socialist or fascist has ever dreamed of.

I am not an athiest.

They all have their reasons and I do not think they are practical. Some because of how the candidate looks, or how the candidate communicates or how the candidate kisses babies, what political party they belong to and so many more reasons that are as ridiculous as the above. Is it any wonder that the country is in deterioration?

Because most of the voters who vote for these politicians are uneducated on what they stand for. They fail to do the needed research on the candidates.

Politics and religion are mutually exclusive. Politics is about running the country - economically, financially and strategically. Religion is responsible (for those who believe) for providing a moral compass...to teach goodness and compassion. Once we start looking to politicians to provide us with moral teachings, we are sunk. That, of course, is not to say that our political leaders should be devoid of morality and ethics...but it is not their responsibility to instill it in the people...

80%? I'd heard that maybe 80% of the country was "religious" but not that they were all Christian - you're not accounting for Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc.

But as for your question: the small minority of people without consciences who are all in the media all push for free love and tolerance and all that other hippy bs, so eventually a lot of religious people back down and let them have their way. It's a slippery slope.

I don't know of any laws that are 'anti christian'..christians are still allowed to practice their faith. But in America, religion does not trump freedom...so if you seek to make laws that limit another american's freedoms, it will not be accepted.

I doubt the 80% number as well - I think many people are afraid to say what they really think.

What laws do you consider anti-Christian?

2007-04-02 08:59:59 · answer #9 · answered by cynical 6 · 0 0

Because many of those said politicians (Bush, Cheney) dupe those voters into believing that they are Christians.
