Pull on your eyelid from the outer corner of your eye with your finger to stretch it tight (not so tight it hurts though!) and then put your eye liner on. It helps a lot. Also, use a pencil instead of liquid. It's a lot easier to control.

It depends what type of eyeliner you are using. If it's liquid and it's going all over your eyes, use a pencil, you'll have more control. Once you get the pencil, pull your eyelid tight, so you look Chinese, then line the eye, go as close as you can to the lash line, this will prevent it from going to far up on your lid. If once you open your eye, you find that the line isn't perfectly straight, get a Q-tip and rub it in a little, this will give you the smokey look kinda, but you will still have the look of having eyeliner on.

Usually liquid eyeliner has more control than pencil ones. If you use a pencil, lift upwards, and put the pencil as close to the lash line as possible. Dont pull the skin to the side, this will cause a weird gap.My friend whos a makeup artist taught me this, but hey try all the different ways and choose what works best for you.

USE AN EYELINER BRUSH - I cannot put on regular eyeliner either. I use a dark brown or black eye shadow and an eyeliner brush. You can buy a brush at Sephora or Target (they have cheaper ones). Load the brush with color, then dab and wiggle the flat end of the brush along your lashline, starting from the outer corner of your lashes. You may need to load the brush a few times.
Mario Tricoci salons will teach you how to apply all of your makeup (I think it's $35 for the lesson).

Pulling on your eyelid is a big DON'T. You should never pull on your skin, especially around the eyes, you'll have wrinkles before your time.
This method works with pencil or liquid. Make three tiny dots, one in the inner corner, one in the middle and one at the outer corner of your eye, then just connect the dots. If your line is too thick, you can always swipe some off with a Q-tip until you reach the desired look.

close one of your lids..pull it a little on the side so that no crease or wrinkles is on it...and it will help you draw a smoother line..then use an eyeliner for the eyelids not the hard eyeliner pencil. that would do it...of course! you'll need to repeat the procedure for the other eye.

It is best to start with a pencil as liquid can get very messy if you're just starting!! i always find it best to sharpen your pencil the close one eye and do three dots along your lid, then join them up, it sounds silly but it helps get a straight and smooth line!! If it does go a little bit wrong then just put on plenty of mascara and no one will notice!! well that's what i do anyway! hope that helps
good luck!!

i think it might take a while to get used to it. i went through the same thing (I dont have a mom either ) so I learned by myself. Try to stick as close to ur eyelashes as possible. u should kind of like squeeze ur eyes from the end of ur eyebrows and close the eye that ur going to apply the liner to. start from the beginning of ur eye (near ur nose) and go as slow as u can but get a q-tip and dip it just a little bit in water and put a tiny bit of lotion/cream on it (if u dont have makeup remover). so in case u mess up, u can gently wipe it off. i dont know maybe its just me, but i find it easier when i put on mascara first.. i put on my eyeliner much nicer. also when u first put on the eyeliner, do it realllyy lightly so if u do mess up it will be easier to clean it off. and then after ur done u can go over it again. hope i helped :)

i wish i could show you! i had the same problem but what i do now is pull just a little on the outside corner and then run the eyeliner along the eyelash line, that way it looks more natural and it doesn't look like you missed! lol, good luck and i am sorry about your mom...
