They pick at people whose self-esteem they know is low. It's called pecking-order. It's just like chickens. If they see somebody as low-ranking, they'll pick at them because it makes them feel bigger and better and more important. Now, doesn't that make them kind of pathetic? I'm assuming you're the one that's getting the picking done on, since you're asking a question like this. Self-worth is something that everybody has. You don't need to beat people down to feel better about yourself, you just need to realize that these people are sad, sad examples of the human race. What will be really, really funny is when you get out of high school and get a good job and see them all working at gas station and delivery jobs. When you reaize that you CAN get a date because once people get out of high school, they mature, and there are actually some pretty cool people out there. You're more than you think you are. Nobody can tell you how much you're worth. That's up to you, and what you decide to do with yourself. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN FATE!

I believe this is because these types of people are miserable on feel the need to feed on others. Its almost as if they get some sort of energy high when they are around others who are suffering. These types of people are also known as psychic vampires. When ever your around them for too long you feel drained and week, like they are literally taking energy away from you. Most don't know they do this and intend no harm, but others are aware. Of course some people are just so unhappy, the only joy they receive is watching someone else suffer.

Because some people are a holes and it makes them feel better to pick on innocent people. I hate it when a group of kids single one kid out and make them feel horrible. It's like, okay this kid already has no friends, go and make it worse so no one can even approach them without fear of being hated too. kids are so cruel it makes me want to cry. And I am sure adults do it too. I guess it is human nature, when one kid is hated by some people everyone has to.

Good question, I think they do it to make themselves feel better. They always single out one person and pick away. And when they are done with that one they find a new one.

They are mean and evil. I used to think that people who were mean to others were just hurting on the inside themselves but not anymore. There are those that have everything and have no reason to bother others not so fortunate but they do. Those people are just plain mean-spirited but they will reap the rewards of their misdeeds one day.
The ones who lash out at others close to them for no reason are the hurting people who have been the victims of evil and mean-spirited people.

People who pick on other people do so, because they are weak and feel the need to pick on people to make them "look" tough

They pick on other people to make themselves feel better. It is an immature thing adolescents do, but lots of adults still do it too.

It depends on the person and the situation-some people are mean because of how they were brought up, or some people are mean because they're just mean in general.
