We used the Graco Pack n' Play until my daughters were a little over 2 years old. I think the bassinet part is the part that is 15lbs and under the Pack n' Play its self I think is up to 30lbs.

My daughter takes naps every day at her grandma's house in a playpen--and she's almost thirteen months old. I wonder if the weight requirement is for the bassinet piece to a pack and play? We went out of town when my daughter was eight months old and she had no problems sleeping in her pack and play. We had to put a blanket up on the side so the lights from the hotel room wouldn't bother her, but that was the only thing we had to do.

We use the playpen (I agree with the others that I think the weight limit is for the top bassinet insert). My son would sleep in the playpen while traveling until he turned 2 and moved to a regular bed. If you're staying in a hotel you can request a crib (there may be a charge). Some hotels have real cribs and some just bring you a playpen.

The 15 lbs weight limit is only on the bassinet part. The actual play pen's weight limit is 30 lbs (some go up to 45lbs).
