Shoeless Joe Jackson was the first and only player to do so - he hit .408 in 1911 for the Cleveland Naps (who would change their name to the Indians a couple years later).

The first player from any Cleveland team was Jesse Burkett, who hit .409 for the Cleveland Spiders (a team that went defunct after 1899) in 1895.

Shoeless Joe Jackson did in 1911.Nap Lajoie batted .396 I believe.Lets go Tribe!
