The reason for living is that life is a great activity, and there is nothing beyond life. Even when we talk of death, we do not actually talk about termination of life, we talk about continuation of life in some supper real form; I do not think that even those who not believe in life-after-death can say with hundred percent certainty that there is nothing after the ‘change’; there is always doubt in some forms or the other that people without faith have to believe in. The fact is that to be alive means to be alive for all times and for all places – in a life of a normal person there are often activities signifying importance of living beyond a normal human lifespan. Life means life and just that, without death, for this is what our mind understand what we are fully alive. Most naturally in our mind we have no other option but to live. I agree that ‘we have nothing to lose’, but where we have nothing to lose, I would just add, we also have much to gain, as a bonus. I know I am knitted into life’s fabric and not everything bad that happens is my fault, and neither I am free from my responsibility to make my life in a wider sense as good as it can be.

Lifes a game, the important bit, is to play the game by the rules... which was the thing your parents always taught you when you were playing with little Johnny at playschool. Trouble is, give someone a Monopoly set at 2 and they are likely to eat the bit of paper with the rules on, then again if you give the same set to a 30 year old they're rarely read... but the game just continues the way it was learnt from other people, or by the way you make it up as you go along. Not everyone puts the fines under Free Parking.
My reason for living is my friends. If I can make just 1 person smile every day thats enough for me. It's important also to know that there are enough people to want to do that for me too so life is peachy.

My reason for staying alive is so I can go for walks in the woods and see the changes that take place on a daily basis. I am also the greatest poet in the world right now so I have to defend that title by living. I also like to help other people out because someone has to in a culture that is evaporating.

Well, i live to learn.
I love learning about everything and anything i can. I love learning something new everyday. I have many reasons on why i want to stay. I have goals in my life that i have yet achieved, such as, having children, be able to learn from every situation, be able to teach others what i have learned in the past.
I think we are here to just live life and get the outcome. The way we take it, will let us know who we are as people and individuals.

I feel like I have a 'mission' of some sort to fulfill. I feel that life is similar to a puzzle (everyone has one). Some of the pieces have already been set in place by some other force (some choose to call it God) and those things include your family and friends. But, some of the pieces are missing, and it's up to the individual to find the pieces AND place them in the correct places. Sometimes, I believe that people's pain in this life is caused by trying to jam the wrong 'pieces' into their proper spaces. So, I'm trying to find my pieces (concerning future career, boyfriend, etc) and take care of them so I don't put them in the wrong spots... peace :)

the fact that i couldn't bare all my friends and family living on without me... a little selfish but I just want to be part of everything... and see what tomorrow brings and to have FUN! i really don't understand why people take life so seriously... there is no law that says everyone MUST make money and if your depressed you might as well just kill yourself and that an education is the only thing that will get you anywhere in life... sure it will get you a job but what if you don't want a job!

Sorry it seems to me a dark way to see the life. Why not enjoying the day and the night in the same way? With their precious differences and gifts!? La vita è bella! The life is beautiful! Eat it, drink it, live it just until its bottom, smiling, sharing, loving all you'll meet from now until the eternity. Ciao.

I don't really think I need a reason for living. That is one of the few truly black and white things. you have two choices: live or die. I'm going to die eventually, might as well use the living part while I still can.
Or, in other words: Why not?

I think you mean "what have we to lose", but the best reason for staying alive is surely that it's better than the alternative.
