I wouldn't suggest doing plumbing or electrical work yourself but there are some things that can be done. That is if you have the time and the patience. Otherwise GSI or GSE (Get Someone Else) or GAP (Get A Professional).

People not wanting to do the work is the reason contractors make so much money. Example: Most plumbing problems in a house can be solved for under $25. Thats way less than the service call fee.
