People are mean in todays world because no body cares about anyone but themselves. It is so sad to know that our society has turned into this. When I was growing up, we were taught to think about the other person's feelings. That is just not so today. People don't think before they let trash come out of their mouths. They wouldn't like it one bit if the shoe was on the other foot.

There are many reasons people appear to be mean. Some are having difficulties in their lives, some are very sad and dissatisfied, some uncertain. Jealousy, and feeling intimidated and fear could be factors. There are people who are in bad health who are not mean, but appear cranky due to health issues.

It depends on how you treat others, not just how they treat you... The "Golden Rule" applies to what you are asking... You could try to watch yourself actively and find out your own issues, but sometimes ignorance can get in the way and you might need someone else's opinion to help you out...
