How do students at HBS not have a job? For God sakes! Isn't rent at HBS dorms around $2,000 a month? How do they pay for it?

If the company is sponsoring them, why would they let them not work for 2 years, and even pay their housing?

I'm not at HBS, but I do have an MBA from a top ten school, a PhD from Berkeley and have taught at Wharton and MIT -- so I feel qualified to answer.

First -- most students at top B-Schools don't live in dorms, so their housing is cheaper. Second, most students have some form of aid and live on that. Third, most students at HBS do not have their tuition paid for by a company -- though some do. Third, most students at top B-Schools get a 50-100% increase in pay after completing their degrees -- so even though it is expensive, it also pays for itself.

Most parents of kids at harvard are rich and influential.
Harvard won´t let any old tyke in, so companies are willing to invest in sponsoring a student as they are highly likely to see a high return on their investment.
If you have a harvard business degree, you are likely to earn a truck load of money.
