Good question. When tapping up to second, you actually go through neutral to second - with just one tap. Most modern bikes have a neutral light to tell you when you are in neutral. One some bikes you have to shift back and forth between 1st and 2nd (several times) before you find neutral when stopped.

In between 1st (down) and 2nd (up) at the halfway point is neutral. You'll feel it. As you slowly move up from first theres actually 2 clicks; the first being neutral and the second being second (which is all the way up)

Get it between 1st and 2nd gear with a half-shift. Kawasaki has this nifty little thing that will only shift into neutral from 1st when you come to a stop instead of juggling between gears, but once you get used to your bike it becomes natural.

Neutral is between 1st and 2nd... so from first to neutral, it will be a half click instead of a full click which will put you in second gear..

it's between 1st and 2nd gear. there will be a green 'N' that lights up when u have it in neutral. u ease the gear shift up and it will drop in neutral.
