Is it after the cheater leaves their spouse and marries this person? Does the stigma of being the "other woman/man" ever wear off?

P.S. I am not the "other woman".

In my opinion, the only time the "other woman/man" will ever be truly respected... is when they realize that the lifestyle they are living is wrong, and make some major changes.. Once they do this, and are no longer involved with someone who is already in a commited relationship.. then, and only then do they deserve any respect.

I should also add, that even if the person they are having an affair with divorces their spouse for them.. they are still just as much a "homewrecker" as they always were.

I have zero respect for anyone who would choose to be involved with a married man/woman.. regardless of who initiates it, or what the "supposed" circumstances are.

No, the stigma never wears off. The family members will always remember what they did to the first spouse and they will never get the respect from the family.

How have they earned the right to be respected? By hurting innocent people? No, they are usually never respected and for good reason. My brother's second wife was the other woman and 10 years later we still think of her that way. We don't hate her but I can't say we actually respect her either.

it doesn't wear off. I have a cousin who broke up a marriage. 10 yrs later, they are very happy and have 2 kids. But she still gets stares at family reunions and is called Megan, The Tramp.

No one who is knowingly, willingly, and voluntarily an "other" doesn't deserves any respect. He/she has totally disrespected himself/herself. If you (and I don't mean you you)don't respect yourself, and live by higher morals than that, no one else will respect you. You have to show you deserve respect.

I don't think that it ever wears off because they've shown that they are a person who lacks character, and that sticks in peoples minds.

Why SHOULD the other women/man be respected? They are putting themselves in the position of Whoring...since when does a whore get respect?
