If they provided more than half of your support for the year and you lived with them for at least half of the year. From what you say, it looks as if they're eligible to claim you as a dependent for 2006.

They can claim you if you live with them for more than half the year last year and if you are under age 19 at the end of the year or under age 24 at the end of the year and a full-time student. They must provide more than half of the total support for the year.

Yep - sorry - the only way to get out of them claiming you is if you get out of the house and start working on your own and supporting yourself. It has nothing to do with age. It has nothing to do with the fact that you work. Trust me, when you have roommates and/or kids who live with you and don't pay their share... you'll wanna claim them on your taxes too. It's a pain in the butt to support someone else who would rather use their rent money to buy clothes and cars and go out and do fun stuff .

Yes, if you lived with them over half the year (and Jan-Aug is WELL over half) and didn't provide over half of your own support for the year, they can claim you as long as you're under age 19.
