Yes, a paramedic needs either a certification or license to work.
Usually, to become a paramedic, one needs to attend training courses for one (for a certificate) to two years (for an associate's degree). Then, there's a field internship, where the potential paramedic will work along side another paramedic, to make sure he or she is competent. Finally, there's state and national testing, and then the paramedic needs to apply for a state license or certification (some states call them licenses and some call them certifications, there's really no difference in the two). To keep a license or certification current, one needs to attend about 48 hours of continuing education every two years, and attend recertification classes.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to email me. My address is on my Q&A page.
Thanks :)

Yup, it calls for more advantageous education. the undemanding paramedic route takes a 12 months to 2 years. because you've already gained a bachelor's degree, the only 12 months class should be adequate. earlier you connect in the paramedic route, you mostly have be qualified as an EMT-elementary as a prerequisite. Paramedic practise usually includes complete time instructions, alongside with medical rotations on the community hospitals, and an internship after class crowning glory. then you are able to ought to take nationwide Registry and/or state certification checks, and stick with to the guy state you want to artwork in for licensure. a strong starting up factor is to come across a paramedic route on your community section. maximum community colleges provide a minimum of the EMT-elementary route, and many have paramedic practise, too. they're going to cope with to respond to maximum of your questions about practise, and could also cope with that ought to help you out with the state-certain criteria. wish this facilitates...

Yes. A paramedic is a highly trained technical position. There are various levels of emergency responders that all require specific training, ranging from first responders, EMT-Basic, EMT, all the way to Paramedic. I took EMT training, but did not go on to become a paramedic. You might be able to get more info by going to www.bradybooks.com, that is where I bought my books for the classes I attended. Good luck!

Yeah... several degrees of EMT with paramedic being the highest, all must be licensed. The site nremt.org is the National registry website, and may be of some use to you.
