If China could hang in there for the initial bombarding of bombs and air warfare they might well come out on top. Not going to happen (not anytime soon)... The US has no beef with China and likely will not in the future because China tends to mind their own business (for lack of a better phrase)...

Yes China would win. I don't believe they would win if they invaded the US (if the military was home). If the white elephant of a military like the one US has today would be wiped out in quick order.

Since when does the US need a good reason to go to war.

tellme --
When was the last time the US declared war. I know the US is pissed if another country goes after then and doesn't declare war but the US did not declare war in the following instances:
Korea, Viet Nan, Nicaragua, Iraq (in both instances), when they aided in the invasion of Iran by Iraq etc.

Bombing and air support didn't win the war in Viet Nam and its not doing much good in Iraq either.

America has an ongoing beef with China is a communist country. Corporate America likes China because of its cheap labour and slack rules on pollution.

If America wins the war with superior air power it certainly didn't work in Viet Nam and isn't doing well in Iraq. The most it is doing in Iraq is causing hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths - so called collateral damage.

Unfortunately, this question is not an easy one to answer. It is purely speculation. There are a limitless number of factors that could contribute to this conjecture, not the least of which is "how do you define victory?" If we go into a land war in China, we might be in some trouble. If it's a war at sea, we're certain to mop the deck with them (pun intended). Additionally, the motivations for war contribute dramatically to how it is fought. For instance, if they've attacked us (and we know it) then the support for war would be large and international. If we preemptively attack them, it might garnish less support amongst the American people. What matters the most, at the end of the day, is how determined we are to win vs. how determined they are to win. That applies to most wars.

No. However the USA vs. China already happened and we lost. General Mac Aurthur, and rightly so as he was sent to accomplish a mission, called for A-Bomb strikes to win.

Our Government declined.
Interestingly the propaganda machine calls the Clerics of Iran madmen, yet Mac Aurthur is not portrayed as such for the same clamors?

Incidentally, had the United States acquiesced to Gen. Mac Aurthur, CHINA WOULD STILL BE A RADIOACTIVE PARKING LOT TO THIS DAY.

Hey
China is not Shanghai Beijin even not Hongkong. We have 20 million people haven`t enough food in inland, and never see what is the train. We have 4 hundred million people never take by plane. If you believe they frist time travel by plane is spent 15 hours on aerotransport to accross Pacific Ocean to fight with you?

We have 14 hundred million populations, That is why you there see is more and more MADE IN CHINA but we here see is more and more people lost their job.

So fighting with US is a story after 200 years .

During Desert Storm, there was a strong belief that Iraq had the military advantage. They had access to better equipment and had an apparently strong force. What it turned out they lacked was training, discipline and experience.

The same is likely to be the case with China. They have vast numbers, but their training and discipline reduces that advantage.

That being said, there are two many advantages for an alliance with China (especially when the earth gets used up and we have to leave to terraform worlds in a system with 100s of worlds).

IT would be one hell of a war... if at full strength we have the infrastructure but they have the man power. A lot would depend upon the nation as a whole. It would be very possible to lose half of each sides armed forces with in a week, and with out firing to many rounds down range.

China has 1/3 of the world's population so it outdoes the USA there...however the US probably has a better army. why would they go to war anyway?

Well the reality is, as much as the US loves to believe itself almost omnipotent in its global power, the truth is, China is no slouch, either the manpower department or the Nuke department. And lets be clear, China has a lot of nukes.
