The number of days in your cycle is the number of days from the FIRST day of one period to the day before the first day of the next period.

Here's how your example works out:
Jan 7 to Feb 2 = 27 days
Feb 3 to March 1 = 26 days
March 1 to March 30 = 30 days

So your periods are a little bit irregular, but mostly predictable at around 27 days.

To figure out when you MOST LIKELY ovulate you take the number of days in your cycle, divide by 2 then add that number to the FIRST day of your period.

For your example. 27 day period divided by 2 is about 14 days. Your last period started on March 31. 31+14 days equals April 13 as the day that you will PROBABLY ovulate this month.

Hope that helps.

I'm in the same boat as you are and it sure can get really confusing. My period is so unpredictable and out of wack. I went 3 months without one and I still wasn't pregnant. I did a bunch of tests to see if maybe I was suffering from cysts or fibroids but that wasn't the case. Anyway, I'm closely monitoring the answers you will receive because just like you, I'm curious and I know that if I want to have a baby, I need to know how to claculate my fertile days etc. Good luck on TTC

I HIGHLY recommend starting to chart your BBT or "basal body temperature." You can google this and find charts to print off and instructions on how to do it. The information it gives you is great and you learn when you ovulate and can confirm that you did ovulate each month. As my doctor said, having sex every other day from cycle day 10 to 18 pretty much ensures that you will hit your most fertile days as long as your cycle is in the normal range of 27-32 days. I also educated myself with a book called "Fertility for Dummies" and I recommend that as well.
