I am going to be putting a new hard drive in my computer and when I bought my computer, it didn't come with the windows xp home edition disk. Please let me know soon if this edition will work ok on the home computer. Like if I would be able to do the same type of searches and downloads as with the home edition? Thank you for your help everyone!

Yes xp pro and home can be used together. Actually professional can do a lot more than home can do. You have the ability to do things with remotly etc.. Professional is what most businesses use and To me it is the best. But if your not doing anything special like networking or anything dont worry about it. If you are then some things that are offered in professional are not offered in home.

The only difference between Professional and home editions of windows xp is the networking section. You may not be able to connect to your network peers efficiently in Home edition as you can do in Professional. This is becase of a few settings arrranged specially for Home Use and Office Use. Thats why xp professional is preferred at offices where you need to be connected via an intranet and at home where an intranet may not be employed. But in either case, if you have the valid edition and the serial key i guess its safe to install professional on your home computer which will still be away from office use!

it works fine, it's the same as the home edition but costs alot more because it contains features geared towards a business environment - most home users won't notice the difference.

Sure it will as long as your PC fits the memory and processor requirements.
