(The following is true for Atlanta *and* Toronto.)
Atlanta (and Toronto) will challenge the two dominant forces in the east.
I won't say they'll win a division, but they have great hitting, which is underrated, relative to the others in their divisions. They have a solid 1-2 for the rotation, but the rest could be a hole, while they have good young players to look forward to. They have great closers, and solid bullpens behind them.
I don't promise them to win the east, but they'll make the other teams in their divisions earn it, and if they don't watch out, they'll lose the division or wild card to them.
Anything can happen. Every team starts off in first place, and one day in, they still are.

I think they'll get the Wild Card and possibly take the division. They don't have as many holes as the others in the East. The Mets don't have much behind Glavine in the rotation. The Phillies bullpen and back of the lineup aren't very good. The Marlins just are too young. You know some of them are bound to have sophomore slumps. The Nationals are probably the worst team in baseball. All that being said, I see a three team race in the division between the Mets, Phillies, and Braves.

They can do no worse than 3rd with the Nat's and Marlins in that division.

You have to think that they are locked in at 3rd or 2nd worst and best case scenarios.
