I personally think Steve Nash is a better basketball player than Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk Nowitzki is one of the best players in the league right now, hands down, but Steve Nash is very well rounded. He has assists, a great FT percentage, and pulls his team out of trouble when they need him. For example, in that game in Dallas where he shot a 3-pointer with 1 second left. Dirk Nowitzki is an awesome player, but can't put down shots and free throws when it's really needed. For example, when he missed that jumper in the Dallas/Phoenix game that could have sent the game into triple overtime. Also, if he hadn't missed his one free throw then Steve Nash's three-pointer couldn't have sent the game into double overtime, and Dallas could have won.
In conclusion, I think Steve Nash is a better player because he's more consistent and makes his team better, not only himself. I also think that Steve Nash is the true MVP, although Dirk Nowitzki is getting there.

The better basketball player is Dirk the real MVP is Dirk and i am from Wisconsin and all i hear about MVP is how Dirk skrews up all the time and Nash is the best of the best. I am a mavs fan but after the last mavs game i am thinking that Dirk needs to finish the season Strong in order to win MVP witch i still think the MVP is his!

Dirk is the most overrated player next to tracy mcgrady. He is great, dont get me wrong, bt e is only averaging 25 pts and 9 rebs per. the only reason he's getting consideration for the votes is cause he's on the best team. KG is putting up those numbers but he's not getting MVP consideration cause his team sucks. Nash is as vital to his team as Kobe isto the lakers. Personally i think Kobe should win it, but out of those two, nash will. the winner will be, unfortunatially, Dirk. (Nash is better)

Dirk is good, no doubt about that but the Mavs can win without him...take Nash off of that team and the Suns are average at best

gonna have to go with steve nash. The man makes everybody on his team around him better, leads the league in assists per game, has an amazing handle and an amazing shot. He could be a lot bigger scorer but choses to distribute the ball and run the offense instead. He is truly the glue that keeps that team together.

nash
theres this one stat, its call efficiency rating or something
good players are like at +20, but nash is somewhere around +35 i think.
it measures how many points ur team scores when your on the floor compared to when your're off the floor.
a +35 is amazing.
and plus, when nash came to phoenix, the starters from the year before had their PPG rise at least 2.5 points the next season, most notably shawn marion, who became a 20 point scorer.
nash is the MVP again, 3 peat

I've been saying for a while now that based on personal and team performance it has to go to Dirk.
