Well there are trade off's. The plants you want or the plants fish like!

Try subing your fish's food with green veggies like peas, greenbeans, cukes, lettuce zuk's Yur fish are telling you they are missing something from their diet.

Gold fish however as well as mollies and plecos will ravage all the plants. Try supplementing their diet , even as much as three times a week, whatever you are having for dinner will work. Just be sure it is small enough for them.

Anubias and java ferns work well, but you would like to keep other plants in the tank. Try the veggies or even a veggie clip attached to the side of the tank. Also, they sell Emerald Entre' in the frozen fish food section. One tiny block can be cut into threes and feed 1/3 every day. Your fish will love it and eventually leave your plants alone.

Java moss is uaully a good choice as are anubias sp. They have rather tough waxy leaves that fish have a hard time eating. Try feeding the fish a little lettuce from time to time as well. Obviously they like fresh greens and it might help keep them off your plants.
