I dont know that seems like an awfully long time. The charity work is a plus. However that is quite a long time.

However...if you worked for any one charity for a lengthy amount of time you can put that on your resume. You dont need to say you werent paid.

But I am being frank...its not good for a 28yr old to have no real work experience. That is a huge strike. You need to get out there and bust your hump to get experience asap. The longer you wait the lesser your chances.

Also...it doenst make you a BAD PERSON by any means. I think the Charity and further education is great. But as well all know its all about experience. Just get out there and you will be ok. You may need to start small and build up but thats ok.

Are you independantly wealthy or something???

Good luck!!!!!

no absolutely not. i am 26, 2 years younger than you, and i have not had a proper job where i was paid, ever. i left school at 16 with no qualifications and spent most of my period studying at college and now at uni. so i have roughly spent 8 years two-ing and froing, trying to do well at further and higher education. even though you spent 4 years doing voluntary work, it's better than nothing. but it's good that you went ahead and got a good education. that's really important. it may not be important for some people to do well academically but from what i've read it it is important to you. don't beat yourself up over it- it will come eventually. you just need a bit of luck on your side

I would not say it makes you a bad person but I am sure that some people would disagree with me.

If you choose not to work then that is your choice but the fact that you are training and do charity work shows that you are at least building your skills and experience. This is my opinion is never a bad thing.

it doesn't make you bad...its only bad if you chose not to work and live off the government knowing that you are doing fraud...then you will be bad.

not having a job for all that time just makes you unqualified and inexperienced for the job world,
....your not old but you are at a age where you should have had a phenomenal amount of experience
and not having this could damage your chances of ever landing yourself a job or at least a good job, which isn't given to you by relative or a Friend of the family.

you need to write about what you have learned in that time and dont make it short. account for the time and all you have learned. exxagerate if you need to. not lie, just over do it a bit. then also write up the very trying, teaching and very intersting years you spent doing charity work, just because you felt like it, and not even getting payed... imagine that...! it is part of you cv... it is what you did with your time and how you put that into words now, that can make you look damn good instead of thinking,... I had no job... You learned... you studied your *** off... you put lots of effort into the charity... and learned... voila... :)

Thats pretty cool, either you were born with a silver spoon or you have a generous person supporting you. I wouldnt say it makes you a bad person necessarily, it might make you an irresponsible one if you are living on someone else's hard earned money and then of course there is a factor of how long you can keep doing it. Its better to stand on your own feet any day, it will give you a sense of independence.

Considering you spent four years doing charity work and six years in school, I do not think it makes you a bad person; however, I do believe it is time to venture into the work sector. People such as yourself is what I refer to "career students". Nonetheless, I do not think you are a bad person.

You're contributing and going to school at the same time. You're actually better than those who work and go to school at the same time. This simply means that you value others more than yourself - altruism - and you still feel that self-growth fits better than self-satisfaction. I think you're a pretty good guy or girl. Feel confident in what you do.
