My pubic hair started growing about 6 months back. Though there is no hair growth in my entire body (very smooth with out a sign of hair growing including my face......no mustache or beard!) But the pubic hair is getting thicker. I am thinking of removing. Which is the best method for boys? If I want to shave, sould I use cream or foam or only water? Which blade...single, double or triple. I am only 16...please guide me properly. Thanks

Do we need to shave around testicles (balls!) also?

Hi there,

Basically, it's personal choice. I use a straight razor for me face which I would not recommend for down there. BICs disposeables are fine, a single or double blade is fine too. I would not use things like the mach turbo and other 3 or 4 bladed razors. The more blades, the closer the shave; the closer the shave, the more chances of you getting ingrown hairs and ya don't want that! They are itchy and can be painful at times as well.

Regarding soaps, I dislike pretty much all brands bought in drug stores. I don't like the smells and given I have sensitive skin, most brands just make my skin crawl. For my face I by natural products without chemicals and perfumes. For shaving down below I actually prefer a dry shave or just water. I find, the key is to make sure the skin that you are going to shave is nice and taught otherwise you'll nic yourself. Some friends swear by a wet shave; others only a dry shave but again, it's personal choice. Try one way. You'll know if you like it or not.

Cheers.

I used to trim, because I was told horror stories of shaving pubic hair. One day, I tried shaving to see what all the fuss was about, and found that I like it better, and it is less scratchy. I have tried various methods, but have found one that works best. If you want to remove it all, this is what I recommend:

1. Trim as short as possible with something such as an electric beard trimmer (to about 2 or 3 mm in hair length)

2. Use a shave OIL such as Shave Secret or King of Shaves. They work MUCH better, and prevent irritation.

3. Make sure to use plenty of water and a good razor. Invest in a good quality razor (I use a Gillette Fusion, 5 blade razor)

4. Shave with the grain to avoid bumps and ingrown hairs. Rinse the razor often, as it gets clogged easily when shaving that length of hair.

5. Use a good exfoliant such as a sponge after shaving

6. Afterwards, use an aftershave lotion that will help relieve irritation and bumps (I use Neutrogena Men Triple Protect face lotion)

If you want to shave around your testes (balls) you can do so, but make sure to pull the skin taught or you may cut yourself. The hair there does not grow as thick as above, so you may not need to unless you want. Just be careful.

You will need to do this a few times before your skin will adapt, so go slow and gentle to avoid razor burn. If you experience any itching in the next few days, that is natural, as the hairs will be growing back. Use an exfoliant every time you shower, and add more aftershave lotion afterward. Shaving "down there" is not for everyone, but it is worth a try to find out if you like it.

Why would you shave it? YOU will be shaving for possibly the next 60 years. (if you ever stop shaving, once you start, the hair will grow back twice as thick and long.) Don't you know that is how to start a beard, start shaving it. 16 years old is way too early to start shaving your pubs. At least consider waiting to shave it until you are 20. Give your body time to grow all the hair it needs. Have you considered any sexual implications from this, like girls (or boys) not liking it?

If you shave one part you have to shave it all.

BTW. you clean your butt with "wet toilet wipes" sold right next to the toilet paper in any store, there are several makers of the product.

I use shaving foam and a single blade safety razor. First, trim the hair as short as possible with a pair of hair cutting scissors. Then, apply the shaving foam and shave the groin and scrotum carefully, taking care not to nick the base of the penis. Rinse with cold water and towel dry before applying shaving balm or a mild antiseptic cream. Finally, sprinkle talcum powder between your legs for a cool, fresh feeling.

Use an electric shaver/trimmer first while the pubes are dry. Then take a thourough shower. Then wet shave. A cheaper razor might be best as it can take a few heads/shavers to get the hair gone. Go EXTREMELY gentle. I suggest shave gel. Also invest in a syptic pencil. They are around 4 bucks and stop the bleeding should you cut your self. If you can't get one peroxide works pretty well.

dude, don't go and completely shave off your pubes. First of all, pubic hair is normally the forst thing to grow at a fast pace for a male. It will grow back pretty quickly. Second of all, i have tried shaving with cream and soap and they both worked fine. Unfortunately, my pubic region started to blister. Listen to me, DON'T DO IT. like armpit hair, pibic hair stops growing at a certain point. if it is too thick for you, just trim some off with some good, old-fashion scissors.
