Yes I do. It is a hard thing to learn to do at first. I used to stay angry at myself and make myself miserable, however, I've learned to do whatever I need to do to be able to forgive myself for my mistakes and then learn from them and not repeat the same mistake again. Sometimes asking another person fo forgiveness is necessary for me to forgive myself. If I've hurt someone unintentionally, I can't forgive myself until I've apologized to the other person. Self forgiveness is important. We are all human and none of us is perfect. We all make mistakes.

yes. i am very competitive - an A-type personality, who was raised from a very young age to compete, to beat others and be the winner. of course it is impossible to maintain this attitude without some serious emotional destruction. when a person like me fails, it is not just "oh well, let's try again" - we flog ourselves mentally and spiritually! over the years, i've learned to be kinder to myself by forgiving myself when I fail and allowing myself to be comforted by familly and friends. (I'm my own worst critic!) it has made me a better person, sister, friend, parent and has brought me true inner peace. better still, through self-forgiveness, i can relax so that my kid has a chance to truly experience life as a journey with ups and downs, not as a "winner take all" competition. i still have the heart to compete, but it doesn't rule my life and mind. (sadly, this type of thing is more common that you might think.)

To forgive myself no, what is that ? just self serving.

I pray for God to forgive me, and He does.

Yes, because to not do so, one would be consumed and paralyzed with guilt.
