A diamond can cut glass. Not the other way around.
A diamond is a pure or nearly pure, extremely hard form of carbon, naturally crystallized in the isometric system. (Hexoctahedral Class, 32nd, 4/m bar 3 2/m)
Glass is a hard, brittle, noncrystalline, more or less transparent substance produced by fusion, usually consisting of mutually dissolved silica and silicates that also contain soda and lime, as in the ordinary variety used for windows and bottles
Drop them both in water. The glass will disappear (same index of refraction as water!). The diamond won't!!!!!!

.The hardness is usually a good start since a diamond is usually harder than glass. Another good indicator is a diamond will scratch glass. Another thing diamonds will burn and glass wont.
