Well, since you were dreaming, the reason you couldn't do anything is because you were...well...dreaming! In dreams we are an audience, and even though we see ourselves in the dreams, we are not able to control what we do. Which would explain why we have dreams where we do wacky things we wouldn't ever consider doing in real life, such as..say...driving naked with only a conducter's hat on our head..yet, we don't seem to notice this as abnormal untill the people in our dream start pointing and laughing at us (this was not an actual dream I had...lol...just an explanation! :P)

Is there a real-life problem threatening your stability now? If it is, then your brain is just giving thoughts about the frustrated situation. Stress causes you to be constantly reminded of the threat that compromises your life's stability, which is what you are constantly thinking about it. Anyway, your dream just means that your brain or yourself (lol...) can't find a direct solution to a certain real-life problem. Talk to a friend or a family member.

Feeling helpless in a dream usually means that you are feeling helpless about something in your life. Maybe it's your job, your children, it could be anything. Your subconscious mind is trying to help you deal with this in your dreams. Think about what it is in your life that is making you feel out of control at the moment.

You're feeling out of control, or not in control. One or several things are weighing heavy on you, possibly causing stress. Seek out those things and address them.
