I'm breastfeeding my 3 month old daughter. Yesterday she had a sour stomach. How can this be if I am breastfeeding her? Is it something I ate?
What are some good hints/tips to help her feel better when this happens again???

She was extremely irritable and crying more so than normal yesterday. She was spitting up a lot and had more poo diapers than normal. Plus I could hear her stomach making funky noises. That is why I thought she had an upset stomach. Plus when I nursed her last night before laying her down, I rubbed her tummy and she went right to sleep.

It could be something you ate...stay away from spicy foods and alcohol. It just be that her tummy was just not up to par. It can happen for no reason.

We need more details. Was she spitting up or crying a lot? What made you think that her stomach was sour? It's possible that you ate something that didn't agree with her, but don't cut any foods just yet. Dr Sears says that spitting up is a laundry problem, not a health problem. In other words, unless baby is unhappy, spitting up is OK.

ETA: That sounds like the virus that we had last month. I hope that's not what it is (because it was so awful), but I hope you find the source of her pain quickly and help her feel better. Good luck.

I am guessing that by sour stomach you mean that the baby spit up..
There is an old saying.. Spit happens! LOL

Really there isnt much you can do about it.
Breastfeeding is best when baby has a sick tummy because it is absorbed really fast. Most everything else when thrown up has no time to get absorbed into babys tummy but breast milk is so easily digested.

Pedialyte is what my son's pediatrician recommended when he was vomiting a lot. He said my son should get a tablespoon at a time, and increase to two tablespoons the next day (he is 25 lbs and 7 months old and also breastfed). I was also told not to let him eat for at least 90 minutes.
