They should only let them play in the road if they don't care what happens to them. Children should never play in the road; they should play in the yard. I have a mentally challenged (I don't like the word retarded) neighbor fellow and he even knows enough to try and keep children from getting in the road. It's dangerous.

What a funny question. If allowing your children to play in the road could be a danger to them, because of cars, etc....why would you allow them to do it?
And playing with balls that go out into the road could also be a danger to them....unless it is a road with no vehicles on it.
A long time ago, we used to live on a busy street with a lot of traffic, and we had a front yard. Our kids were allowed to play in the front yard, on the sidewalk, etc....but had firm rules that no one went into the street for any reason...and no balls were allowed in the front yard because children forget and run out after them.
I also had a four-year old that would sometime sleep-walk at night...so I put a chain on his door (on the outside) at night because I was afraid he might go into the street without realizing it.
So...the answer is obvious....safety first...and think about everything a child "might" do....because sooner or later, he will!

Some of the parents need to play in the road and get run over by a mac truck. The kids, not so much.

Keep 'em out of the road. It's an epidemic around here. Every time I back out of the driveway, I have to keep an eye out for kids, dogs, cats and everything else, just because so many irresponsible people can't be bothered with keeping their own children and pets out of the street.

Quietly, in their own yard and away from my house. I have neighbors who let their kids run free all over the neighborhood including in the road...they should have their right to breed revoked!

They should get there kids in the yard especially when cars are known to speed down the street.
