Flag burning is a visual lightening rod for conservatives, and, a trivial side bar to real issues, and, is near the bottom of serious people's list but the most cynical of demagogues, or, frankly, vacuous politicians, in America.

The ironic thing is that the proper way to dispose of a flag is by burning it. If the people were defecating on it or doing something equally disgusting, I'd understand their indignation but what they're doing is the proper way to dispose of a flag that is too worn out to continue to fly.

Yes, this is just another conservative way of distracting the overly emotional, nonthinking elements of American society. These are the same people who are fascinated with Anna Nicole Smith's drama and don't have a clue what's happening in the world.

yes. it is a "wedge issue". How many on here have seen a U.S. flag burned in person. It is a very rare occurrence. It is a waste of Congress' time to debate it.

Even if we were to pass an amendment to ban flag burning, that would put us in a league with Iran, N. Korea, and Cuba. Do we really want that????
