Let me straighten everyone out. There are X number of democrats. There are X number of republicans. For better or worse these values never change. What you see in the fluctuation are moderates. Moderates are different than independents. Moderates are people who have only a cursory idea what is going on politically. They shift back and forth with the wind. It sometimes seems that they will back whichever side appears to be winning at the moment.
I would not put too much stock in these numbers. You see, even before this country was formed, the people were almost always divided three ways. Those for it, those against it and those who couldn't care less.
Even in the Revolutionary war. You had Patriots for it, Torrie's against it and approximately one third who couldn't care less.
The battle is to capture the minds and hearts of the God forsaken moderates. If your party is perceived as too extreme you will loose them. It is probably the single biggest reason the democrats in congress don't just vote to cut funding for the war. They could pass such a bill, even though the president would veto it but it would alienate too many moderates.
Moderates fear change more than anything else. So what effect they will have in 2008 is any ones guess at this time.

If this is a trend we are headed for bigger problems then anyone could ever have foreseen . The expanded and continued exploitation of the third world is more important then ever in our current economy .
Anyone that wants to slow down the trade does not see the long term benefits .
The problem is the republicans while making america stronger forget the people and fail to provide adequate public aide .
The capitalist who run wild while republicans are in charge forget that the base that put them their has a completely separate motivation . SO they pander to it .
Making drugs illegal and making drunkenness unacceptable .
They know huge profits are to be made from this and use it to their full advantage will never ending the problem . Just like the abortion issue . It will never happen that abortion become illegal ever in america .
So if capitalist really want a free hand they better admit that taking care of the people here is the best method and it is not the Christian right that you need to convince .
Ask any minority if he minds if others slave away around the world as long as he has running water food and a roof over his head . We need to make home ownership a reality for all americans and we an do it . Plenty of land and plenty of room for it to happen .
Corporations need to expand there thinking and abandon the expensive city locations for the open country that they can shape and build to suite their needs better .
Turn them over to the liberals and make them into welfare camps .
They are almost there now andbillions in renovations are only wasted on decaying 20th century cities .
We need to begin building from scratch entire communities with the latest energy saving materials and techniques .With parks and bike paths aand a much better plan then we have inherited and continue to repair rather then just demolish and replace .
Bush saw an opportunity and started with the twin towers .
Centers of business that long ago should have been spread out rather then concentrated and he acted .

It proves two things.
One, people have no spines. They will tend to want to identify with the winning team - just as millions rushed to join the Republican party years ago.
Two, the Democratic and Republican party platforms aren't all that different. Big spenders, nanny state promoters, just catering to a different set of lobbyists.

the reason youthful voters are not vote casting Republican is because presently the Republican celebration has been making fools of themselves. it really is difficult to take heavily a celebration that likes Sarah Palin as a lot as they do. notwithstanding, extremely some older voters are nevertheless gung-ho Republicans. Are they in difficulty that their celebration is merely no longer being taken heavily anymore? convinced, very a lot so.

It is only troubling that people actually use polls as a basis for anything no matter what news source it comes from, and now that also debunks each and every statement that said Fox News was biased. Now that you have proven that Fox News is not biased, we should not believe anything the Chicken-Hawk Neo-Libs spew.? Now watch how many of those liberal sheep won't believe you.

From the failure of Republican control of Congress and the executive office the last six years, be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it. Republicans "had it all" and increased the size of the federal government, spending went unchecked and out of control, and we warred on a nation that in hind site served no strategic purpose for America. Republicans lost ground because their policies and strength failed themselves as leaders, and us, as a nation. I believe it is this simple.

Most of it is due to the dramatic increase in illegal immigrants who support the Democrats. But they can't vote, at least not until we get a Dem as president, so they don't matter.

When you have "Republicans" like McCain, I agree with the story.
Republicans need more Conservatives. Less spending, strong military, zero tolerance for illegals, no gay rights, anti abortion.
Get a candidate like that, and he will get 99% of the Republican vote.
