You are right about the skyroking rents in Dubai. For Dhs 1.200 monthly you might be able to share an apartment with other people but not getting an apartment on own. If sharing an apartment is possible depends a whole lot on your nationality. Indinas sublet to Indians, Phillipinean to Phillpinaen and so on. It's also very comon to offfer "bedspace available". means you share a room with others.

Btw.: Sharjah is a 15 min. drive away from Dubai. But - in rush hours it can take you up to 1,5 hours.

As for Sharjah being a 15 min journey to Dubai that's only gonna be after 1am in the morning - he's having a laugh

I doubt it. If push comes to shove, why not live in Sharjah? A prospective employer told me it's only 15 minutes away from Dubai and accomodation costs are way cheaper.
