NORAD tracks ALL aircraft, missiles and satellites...not just military targets. In July 1999 golfer Payne Stewart's private plane went off course in the middle of nowhere Texas and was intercepted by two F16's within 15 minutes who escorted the plane until it ran out of fuel and crashed in North Dakota. On 9/11 NORAD was told to stand down...it is the only explanation of how 19 "hijackers" could fly airliners around the busiest airspace in the world for two hours without being intercepted.
So NORAD was taking orders from the hijackers on 9/11?

Well, no...normally they do a GREAT job and intercept all if not most rogue planes. But for some reason, another first happened on 9/11...it's amazing all the inconsistencies of that day....yet a big chunk of America doesn't want to question it.
It is routine policy and practice for fighter jets to intercept planes if they go off course even by 2 miles. In the year prior to 9/11 there were 67 such intercepts. It's therefore inconceivable that none of the hijacked planes would be intercepted on.
Did you know more money was spent investigating the Clinton-Lewinsky affair (b/w $60-80 million), than spent on investigating 9/11 ($3 mill at first, then grudgingly another $11 mill). Of course the investigation took over a year to start b/c Bush blocked it over and over again. What's wrong w/ this picture?

NORAD is not responsible for domestic hijackings. Authority is given to the regional command to deal with such issues. And since I do not know the status of any NORAD member's libido I cannot answer your question as to whether or not they were impotent.
In the case of 9/11, it was NEADS (Northeast Air Defense Sector) located at Fort Drum, New York responsible for defense of the American Northeast. But, they were not given enough information in order to properly deal with the situation.
Do you really think a base in Colorado can coordinate a multi pronged response to four hijacked and missing aircraft on the Eastern seaboard? These people are human too.

NORAD is used for a completly different purpose. The esclation by a forgien government. The big problem with 9/11 was Clintons AG putting up walls between the FBI and CIA that went beyond the law. Also, the congress and the Gov't spending on toys instead of boys. We had limited manpower were we needed it, but had new satelittles that kick butt, but really don't do much.

Kelly, I worked at NORAD in the 80's. Their concern is with military activity, not commercial airline activity. Dismantling NORAD would dismantle our main control for tracking and responding to military air threats.

This question hardly deserves an answer because you obviously no nothing about NORAD or the military in general. NORAD is in place to monitor and track military targets, missiles, aircraft , etc. They did their job on 9/11. There were no military aircraft used. This is another fine example of blind liberal ignorance.

You obviously lack of clear understanding of both the mission and capabilities of NORAD...and the events that transpired on 9/11. Rather than paying attention to all of the "conspiracy fantasies", you may want to consider the following sources.

No. NORAD looks for military targets attacking the US. 9/11 hijackers used commercial airliners.

Norad monitors missles, and military aircraft.
It doesn't monitor civilian aircraft...so Norad did its job on 9/11.
