I know some people that have to check the news to see if the ferry is running and when it's not they have to go about 40 miles to make the circuit.

Last time I rode a ferry was about 6 months ago. I took it from lower Manhattan to Governors Island, just to check it out. It's a strange place.
I don't take one to work.

A year ago out to Catalina Island. About 20 miles from San Pedro. If the ferry is not running I'd take a charter boat.

Took the ferry a couple of months ago in Texas. There's not a ferry running where I live right now, though.

The last time was 1986, when we took ferries between Port Angeles and Vancouver during the World's Fair.
