How do I make a bar top out of beer caps?

i want to make a bar top using several hundred beer cap tops does anyone know how i could do this?

Plywood on the bottom painted a color that you would want to show thru. Place wooden edges and place all the beer caps on the plywood. Place glass over the top of the beer caps to make your top. One other thing to do is put lights under the plywood, drill small holes between some of the beer caps. When it is dark in the room turn on the light underneath and small pinpoints of light will shine thru.

Find a good looking soft wood you want as a bar top. Hammer the caps into the wood slightly so they will stick, using a block of wood to keep from marring the tops. Install wood strips around the edge of the top to form a level curb a little higher than the bottle caps, and tape the curb edges tight. Then pour a clear polyurethane wood floor finish over the bar top in multiple pours, letting the polyurethane dry between coats, eventually covering the caps and filling up to the curb.
I saw a bar finished this way using pennys.

Here is my suggestion to go with the ones already received.

Use your MDF or Plywood for the base. I would color it in what ever color you would want to show through.

The arrange and clear hot glue the UNDER side of the cap to the base in the desired arrangement.

There are clear crafting resins that are poured over things to embed them into surfaces. My Mom used to use it over pictures for plaques. I have seen it used as a bar top to embed pennies, and other things for a creative look.

I do not know if a craft store or a paint store would be the place to get it. An Internet search should help you to find it.

I think Samm's approach is the best. You can find a pour-on epoxy resin finish at Lowes or Home Depot to embed your caps in . It dries very hard, shiny and clear. You'll need to put some edging around the perimeter of your bar top that is a little higher than the tops of the bottle caps. That way when you pour your resin, it won't spill over the edges.

Got wood? Ply wood or mdf works. You can either smear on a glue product or possibly even a layer of grout. Or you can hot glue each one on. Which ever you want to do. THe good thing about glueing them is that you can arrange them all on the board ahead of time. Then glue each one as you go along.

After you have them all applied you want to use a product where you can fill in the spaces. The reason i say grout is because it will hold up to wear and tear and can be washed/wipped clean. You can leave it like this or you can buy a piece of glass or clear plastic to set on top.

making sure you have a flat surface-lay the caps on the way you want them ( side by side I'm guessing), then get this stuff called epoxy.It might take a couple coats but it looks like plexiglass when it's finished. A friend did this to his bar only with "Steeler" photos and memos!! Looks fabulous!!

Git yourself some nice plyerwood n a nail gun n lots er nails. Oh, also some compressed ears. Put yer tops on the woods and nail away. Have yerself some fun.

buy a piece of wood and cut it to the size you want, lay out the beer caps in the pattern you want and hot glue/ wood glue those babies down! good luck

Try using ceramic tile adhesive (the same way you'd install tile) and grout it the same way...it's worth a shot, right?
